A friend of mine has offered to detail the engine compartment of my 1955 Cadillac and I wondered if just the valve covers were originally painted blue?  Also would like to know the color of blue and where I can buy it?  Is the black paint a special paint, too?  Thanks!

The authorities can provide you with a definitive answer, as can the the 1955 CLC Authenticity Manual, but I do know for a fact that in addition to the valve covers, the block, heads, intake manifold and and trans were painted Caddy Blue at the factory.

I am sure Bill Hirsch sell the right color:
