59 Windshield Wiper Motor Problem

Any ideas as to why my wipers will turn on and operate at both speeds (but sluggishly) but will NOT easily turn-off???  I took the dash switch out and it is as clean as a whistle.  Do I need to have the motor rebuilt?

I would be removing the Wiper Motor and simply cleaning it out, and lubricating the moving parts.

When looking at the Parking Mechanism, ensure that the rubber sleeve is around the small projection that catches the lever to park it.

Mine was bad, and the rubber piece had broken ands was floating around inside.

Once fixed, the wipers turned on and off whenever I wanted them to.   Before that, it had a mind of its' own.
