So this afternoon I removed the power servo from my 1967 Eldorado in order to disassemble the rotary valve and clean it. But when I reassembling it I was looking at the finish of the power servo itself; a natural unfinished metal (some kind of alloy, aluminum, perhaps?).

Anyway, it was covered in stains and grime that it has accumulated over the last forty odd years and I was wondering the best way to clean/refinish it. Obviously taking a wire brush or sandpaper to it would mar the finish, and I'm not sure that bathing it in solvent would be much better. Has anyone had experience refinishing one of these?

I'm gradually going through everything under the hood and it would be nice to put things back looking better than they were when I took them off!

Thanks,

Antoni

Are you speaking of the power brake booster?
73 Eldo convert w/FiTech EFI, over 30 years of ownership and counting
Somewhat recently deceased daily drivers, 80 Eldo Diesel & 90 CDV
And other assorted stuff I keep buying for some reason

Actually no, I meant the vacuum power servo that controls the a/c blower motor. It's located at the top of the firewall, pretty much in the center and has about seven vacuum lines coming out of the top of it!
