I've searched and searched, but have not found a definitive answer as to what the total ignition timing advance should be a cruise RPM (i.e., I presume, max advance).. with vacuum line installed?

None of my manuals have this, and there are lots of comments about "check the timing", but no reference other than static or idle advance settings.

Any experts out there?

I don't have a reference quickly of where I found this but here is the flathead spec on timing.  The best way to set this up is on a machine.

Brad,

thanks so much. that's exactly what I needed.  Just converted my 60 S to 12V (in preparation for an underdash A/C system), was having problems with the ignition, finally traced it to faulty power wire to coil.

Good to see a forum contributor with some real information!

All the best,
Phil
