Hi,
Attempted to remove my clock, light assembly from my 66 vert yesterday.  What engineers designed this with a 5/64" hex set screw??? :(  Corroded and frozen, so asking for add'l ideas on removing, anyone? No go with PB, or even drilling out.  I have a parts car and planning on using instrument panel from that car as this one pretty beat up.  Car in for sand/soda blasting this week, but will need to figure out a way to remove.  Been working on old cars for a while...one of the worst designs I've seen  ;)

You could just remove the cluster as an assembly, then take it all apart on the bench.  On the bench you could remove all the items you can, then take some heat to the hex screw since you won't reusing the bezel.  Maybe a pocket butane torch would expand the metal enough to "unfreeze" the screw.  Tim

Chaz,
Had the same problem on my '66.  The allen screw was frozen. What I did was to drill it out enough to get an easy out in there and using a little bit of kroil, pulled the screw out.  Piece of cake.

Thanks All.  Tim, checked in the shop manual and instructions state that you need to remove the clock and light switch first as the screws for removal on instr. panel are *under* those.

I will try the easy out and see how that goes!

Thanks!
