I came upon a hydra-matic this weekend.  It does not have a bell housing, but has the following numbers stamped on the body.  8611996 is stamped forward and 8615013 is stamped back on the tailpiece.  Can anyone help me with what year this is?  I'm sure it's GM and probably Cadillac and looks to be immediate post war.  At the end of that last number there is also a "6N1."

I looked at my 2 49 spare trannys and found no #'s on top of the main housing or the tailshaft. I'll check my 50 today.

None of those numbers match numbers in the Master Chassis catalogs I have through 1952.   

Are there any remnants of paint that can give a hint?  Photos are better.

My 1955 has the 8615013 #'s, I know this thread is 8 years old but there you have it  ;D
