Harvey. Either google 1937 cadillac axle seal or do a search on the boards. All cads of the 40's/50's has your seal in stock. Check with napa also.

Harvey, According to the shop manual the series 60 axle seals are outboard unlike the series 75 which are inboard. A real pain to change. The manual also advises to keep the axle vent holes clean. The series 60 are located on the top of the axle housing while the series 75 is located on the bottom near the drain. A pressure buildup in the axle housing will cause the seals to leak. Good Luck, Harry

I don't remember the number of the seal Harvey but as its already been said the seal is on the outside and easy enough to do.
You will need a puller to remove the rear drum, then a circle of bolts holding the seal and bearing in place along with the backplate, withdraw the shaft and extract the seal.

I know this is a repeat of things I and others have said before but while you are there replace the bearing on the axle.  They fail.
