Iam having trouble pumping gas with my Vacuum fuel pump. It has been rebuilt just recently. Can anyone tell me what the length of the stroke should be?  I am trying to figure out if it is the pump or the lobe on the camshaft.

Bruce,

Sorry, but is it pumping gas or not? Sometimes, on installation, the arm can not mate with the cam lobe -- so no gas. It has to be installed straight in, gently.

John is correct Bruce, the pump can in some circumstances be fitted with the arm on the wrong side of the lobe, it needs to be on the outside ( left hand) nearest the pump itself, you have to feed it up there feeling it sit on the lobe before bolting up the pump.

You also want to be sure the fuel pump lobe is in the down position as it relates to the pump arm when installing. Harry
