Anyone know a place to get these?  Other cars that will fit.  Chevelle is similar, but rubber about 1/4 inch higher.  Replacing rear body mounts and old rubber shot.

G'day Chas,

Have a look at the Modified Chapter Forum at  modifiedcadillac.org.

There is a '66 Coupe being parted out.

I would be pretty sure that there should be some usable mounts on this car, as I would think that all models of Cadillac for each year would use the same rubbers.   Just that the Convertible has them in different places.

Are the chevelles really a 1/4" taller or are yours collapsed?

Yes, mine have collapsed, but I should clarify, the metal part of the bushing is taller too on the Chevelle, so didn't want to use.

Looks like these are close:

Hi,

I replaced all the rubber bushings between frame and body on my 1970 Cadillac.  What a wonderful result, beautiful rattle free crusing.  The 1966 and 1970 chassis are similar and I know what you mean about the metal piece.   Don't consider used bushings.

Obsolete GM may have them, they do have exact replacements for the 1970.

I used "Energy Suspension" part number 9.4102G, polyurethane.  The hole in the frame is 1-3/16" and it will have to to be increased with a step bit to 1-1/4".  I wrote anarticle on it if you are interested.

Thanks,

Scot

Excellent article!  Thanks!! I may get motivated and replace the rest.  (I was just planning on replacing the rear 4)

I got a good tip from the 65-66 Caddy forum below. (also attaching Ed's pic)
I am awaiting mine and will post pics when complete.

Body Mounts I used after removing the originals

(one in near perfect shape, the other totally gone)

doing a drawing based on shop manual and taking down all dimensions

then searching many sources and comparing

I settled on these

http://www.rubbertherightway.com/1960-buick-restoration-parts-body-51229-prd1.htm

These both have integral metal - similar to originals

They are installed and worked out great.

There are three front body to frame bushings not in the shop manual that have adjustable mounts so that any bushing will do almost.  One under the radiator, just to the front, one under the battery, and one under where a battery would be if mounted on the other side.  Those are easy to do, described as "child's play" in my article and they give you the biggest bang for your time and money for removing squeaks and rattles.  They take about an hour to do each and you don't have to disconnect steering gear, or any other preparatory work.  You can replace one each night after dinner.

Enjoy your quiet ride!

More good tips....thanks!  i have a rebuilt steering box and new rag joint, so need to take off anyways, so I guess I might as well do all  ;D  Also have a car lift in my garage, so wasn't too bad removing the rear ones.  Car is mostly a shell now (with doors and trunk lid still on) as engine is out, frame sandblasted.   I painted undercarriage, trunk and floor pans.  The ones by rear seat look like they would be the most difficult.   Thanks!
