As a part of the frame off restoration of my 1941 6227D coupe I've taken apart the leaf springs, blasted and painted them, and got some plastic liner for in between, but I noticed that the spring holes aren't centered.  They measure 24" from the axle perch hole to one end and 28" from the other.  I think the longer end goes towards the front and since the shackle adds length to the rear end, that makes sense, but if any one knows for sure or can check which way the springs go on their car I'd appreciate the help.  The car wouldn't have to be a 41 or even a coupe.
Thanks,

Ken,
Perhaps a simple first step might be to see what the dimension from the front spring attachment to the "centerline" of the frame arch (over the axle), and compare it to the dimension from the rear attachment point to the same centerline.
