Gentlemen,

Please note the position of the front and rear door handles.  3 out of 4 have a sloppy feel and the passenger handle actually touches the body when trying to open it.  They do, however, all work.
It is my understanding that the shaft that enters the car is square and worn. There is suppose to be some sort of shim  to correct this.
Any recomendations on where to purchase these, if they exist.  Is what I have been told true or is there another method of correcting this problem?

Thank you, Richard

The repair part sold by AllCads is very good. If, upon installation, you have trouble getting the handle to align perfectly level, let me know as I have a detailed technical article I wrote about how to fix that.  It appeared in the 49 Times sometime back...

Thank you Chris!  Wasn't exactly what I wanted, but pleases me just by looking at it.

Originally I had wanted a 1958 Caddy, but found them just too expensive.  To me, they are a prettier car, obviously more modern, lots more chrome and plusher seating.

Art/Richard:

I have a 48 convertible with the same issue.   I had planned to correct it and would very much appreciate a copy of the article on alignment if at all possible.

If available, my email address is dominionhr@comcast.net
