Distributor Spin direction

Howdy!

Any idea how to tell which direction the distributor spins (1940 series 72) when it is not in the car?  The distributor was rebuilt and I am putting a petronix electronic ignition in it prior to reinstalling it.  Now I need to know which direction it turns.

Joe, It should turn clockwise as you look down on it. Some are marked with a rotation arrow under the rotor. Harry
