So which is the right part?

this:  http://www.performancenowdirect.com/servlet/the-1497/Performance-Idler-Arm-1967/Detail

or

this:  http://caddydaddy577.corecommerce.com/1967-1968-1969-1970-1971-1972-1973-1974-1975-1976-1977-1978-Cadillac-Eldorado-Idler-Arm-New-FREE-shipping-in-the-USA-p2136.html

Is the performancenowdirect one the same as what caddydaddy offers but they include the vertical bar and caddydaddy doesn't?  I've seen lots of these with wildly ranging prices.  some places (ebay) have them for $20.  some places like caddydaddy sell them for $100+

Get the one from perf. direct, one note here make sure you put the idler arm back in the same vertical position as the old one, if the center link is not parallel to the ground you will get bump steer.

If you read the fine print on the detailed description of the performancenowdirect.com idler arm is states:  "The photo shown here is a similar part, not the actual part you will get."

Caddy Daddy probably used a photo of the actual part.  They are undoubtedly both the same.

Right, this is my confusion.  are there any members out there who actually have seen and touched one with their sweaty little hands that can verify this?

Usually the mount bracket and shaft do not wear but I would check with both sources it still would be nice to have both parts new.  BTW last year I had a 57 Seville in my shop and paid 225 from Rare Parts for a complete nos idler arm.

Hank,
Have you taken a good look at the one you want to replace?
