I had a good  compitant painter mix some code 90 Olympic white 1957 .... base coat clear coat . and he shot a fairly large test area for me to  check out . I was supprized ,  this looked to be a cream white It had some yellow in it . i always thought Olympic white was more a bright white all white    Can someone out there please try to explain this color to me . Was it a bright white , did it look more like a cream white ? I do have a paint chip but it is 55 years old  and that look like it is a soft kinda of white . There must be 1000 shades of white .   Is there a new paint chip that i can relate  Olympic white  to somewhere ?  I know this is a very hard subject to talk about without looking at paintchips .

  Thanks,

Bill,
I have lots of paint chips from different manufactures & they all look very similar some of the paint chips are large.
Olympic White 90 - Gray White.
Alpine White 12 - Cream White.
Chamonix White 112 - Very dirty White.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Grant ,
I did not think Olympic White  was a cream white , Colors are a whole technology in itself . I wish i could find a chip from a house of colors or some other paint company that is close to the original code olympic white .

  Talk to you latter ,

Bill,

I lucked into finding a 3 piece hard boot for my 60 convertible.  I know it's incorrect for non-Eldo's but I would like to have the option of using it when I want to.

My '60 is also Olympic White.  I brought one of my fender skirts into the body shop and they had their paint rep come out and scan it with a hand held device that scans in the color.  They did it and then mixed the paint on the shop's mixing system.

This produced a dead on match.  I watched them tint the white base and there were precise amounts of about 6 different colors added.

Since my car was repainted, and we didn't know how accurate the color was, this was the best way.  By itself, the car looks pure white, until you put a sheet of pure white paper against it.

Hope this helps,

Brian

Bill, here in New Zealand which is a very small country I use Glasurit paint, the most recent Colors I have used are, Pinehurst Green, Gotham Gold , Dover White, Inverness Green, (59 Colors).
Glasurit have had formulas on their data base & the colors have always been spot on in both Base coat clear coat & 2K.
If I can get formulas here in New Zealand I would think it would be very easy in the States , mixing has to be exact it only takes a few extra drops of one tinter to change the color.
