Is DOT 3 still the best brake fluid to use for the orginal breaks on the 1939 LaSalle?

Dave Shepherd

Dot 4 maybe more desirable as it absorbs less moisture than dot 3.

Agree with Dave, use DOT 4.  It has a higher temperature rating, absorbs
less water and does not have all of the associated hassel of switching to DOT
5 (silicone).  With silicone, you have to change out the whole system or risk
having leaks everywhere you have a rubber gasket / seal.

DOT is now more or less obsolete.
