Hello,
What grade of  Drextron Trans Fluid should one use in the 56, 57, 58 Cadillac transmission today ? I am not 100% sure of the dextron  Grade that is in my car , but if i had to add to it is there a grade that i should be looking for ?

Thanks,

'They' claim its backward compatible with all the older specs and equipment and mixing them does not harm anything.

Will be nice to see what actual car owners have to say on the subject.
73 Eldo convert w/FiTech EFI, over 30 years of ownership and counting
Somewhat recently deceased daily drivers, 80 Eldo Diesel & 90 CDV
And other assorted stuff I keep buying for some reason

Bill,

This topic was previously discuss on several post, I’m attaching a GM Service release documenting the new DEXRON IV is backwards compatible with older fluids used on Hydra-Matic transmission.

I personally prefer in empty and refill with the same type instead of mixing if I have no knowledge of what type is in the tranny. If you have the old DEXRON III it should be a non-issue in toping it off with the new type.

Good luck..!
