I like to go 2 1/4" Engine pipes, and 2" tail Pipes as a minimum.

But, the manifold flange inside diameter should be a guide.

Using 2" Engine pipes is not good for performance, and anything larger than 2" for Tail Pipes could run the risk of contacting the frame as it passes through the tight areas that they have to pass through.

Plus, if you can afford to go with Stainless Steel, go that way as you will never have to replace any part of it in future.

Original exhaust are: 2" till the muffler and then 1 3/4" the shape is complex enough to have no contact to the frame with small tubes; 2" may be too large...

I used 2" Stainless on the tailpipes on my '60 CDV, but the pipe bender had to be extra careful to ensure no frame contact.
