Are these the correct part numbers for the 48-49 hood ornament?

What about part# 1453910 -- is that a base for 50-52?

You have the correct part numbers for the '49 goddess and base.  My '35-'55 parts manual says that previous to 1955 Cadillac used 145 3910 as the part number for the 48-49 base and then changed the number to 145 5691.

Thanks, Jay.  So is it safe to assume 145 5691 and 145 3910 are the same base (dimensions and appearance)?

#3
48 base 1453910
1949 1455691
1950 1456358

The 48-9 goddess is the same, but the angle of the base differs from 48-49, a fact that not even I noticed all these years later.

The 48 ornament sits back 1" further then the 49, which would explain the forward curve difference with 49 being 3/8" and the 48 3/16".

50 ornament completely different.

Fab,

I don't know if it is safe to assume 145 5691 and 145 3910 are the same base (dimensions and appearance).  From what Jeffo said, there was a difference in the 48 and 49 bases and by '55, the year of my parts book, Cadillac may have only been supplying one of the two bases.  There probably wasn't much call for these parts by '55, so maybe they combined the 2 parts, figuring most people wouldn't notice any difference.  (We restorers had yet to make our appearance.)

I noticed Cadillac did the same with other '49 parts such as the trunk Vs, for which there were 3 different Vs for different shaped trunks on the various models in '49 parts manuals, but by the '60s only 1 of them still appeared in Cadillac parts manuals for all body styles.

No need, but thanks for offering. I was looking at a hood ornament on eBay but it sold. Thanks for the help!
