remove drive shaft 1941 cad. 60 special

im removing engine fron 41 60 special. ive been told to remove drive shaft from rear end. does anyone have any tips ? thanks john

To remove the drive shaft all you need to do is remove the 4 bolts that hold the universal joint to the pinion flange, & pull the shaft out of the transmission. Make sure you drain the fluid from the transmission first.

If your removing the gearbox as well its wise to remove the drive shaft to prevent it dropping, just undo the bolts on the rear axle and the shaft will pull out the transmission. Watch for loosing fluid from the box. If your leaving the transmission in then you can leave the drive shaft in also.
