my 60 coupe is missing its factory jack... to get rear wheels off, I have been advised I need bumper jack to get car high enough to access getting wheel off... so I have been looking at a factory bumper jack from a 59 that is for sale... will this work on my 60... I assume the fitting that attaches to bumper needs to match bumper contour.... is 59 and 60 contour alot different...

or does someone have a 60 jack for sale ???

Hayden,

For many reasons you should have a correct original jack.  However, lifting the car by the bumper with the original jack isn't so desirable on a show car with show chrome bumpers.

Consider carrying a small hydraulic jack in the trunk, like this one:

As long as you lift the car by jacking up the frame, the car will lift and extend the suspension and you will have plenty of clearance once you take off the skirts.  Don't lift the car by placing the jack under the axle as the suspension will not extend and the clearance will not increase.

Make sure to chock the front tire and use a jack stand while the wheel is off of the car.  Observe normal safety precautions.

Thanks for that... But is the 59 jack the same as 60 ?

The bumpers look slightly different ... So just wanna see if a 59 jack will work on my 60...  I am getting it shipped from US to Australia... So if it doesn't fit, it will be a waste of alot of postage.

Thanks for any advice on other matters though.

Hayden,
You are correct. The hooks are different. The rest of the jack assys. are the same. Be advised there are 2 dfferent jack verticle bar styles. "Y" & "V". The hooks fit either style.

Too much fun is more than you can have.

I found to be excellent, the factory frame scissors jacks they started providing
about the 80s.  I got a few from the yard, and threw away all my bumper jacks.

Guess you could keep a bumper jack in back for show.  Bruce Roe
