how adjust fan belt on 1941 series 62

I think i can figure this out, but i thought i might as well ask! I assume you loosen the big nut on the block opposite the fan, and then lever up the whole fan assembly? two man job? Any tips would be appreciated. BTW, what is the recommended deflection (tightness) of the fan and gen belts?

I usually have a piece of wood or lever bar that fits under the fan bracket and lever it up with that. deflection I think is 1/2" but dont quote me on that.

thanks Steve - thats what i thought. i will give it a whirl and the .5" deflection seems about right to me.

Right.  1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection is about right if you have the original style, thick belt.  There's no need to over tighten those things as it only puts more tension on the bearings of all associated parts.
