The interior of my 47 project is pretty rough. I've read other posts about door panels which were helpful. However, my seat frames are also in bad shape and the bottom part of the rear seat is missing. Does anyone make replacement seat frames?

Hi Jeff: To my knowledge no one makes replacement seat frames for the convert. You might try to find seat frames from a 46-48 Buick convert which are the same. I also have been told that the frames from the 46-47 62 series coupe can be used for parts but never have seen the finished product. How bad are your frames? I have used good metal men in the past to bring parts back from items that I thought were too far gone to save.      Bill

Jeff:

I used the whole front seat from a 47 Cadillac Coupe in my '47 convert. with no modifications. It is not a power seat any longer. The coupe rear seat is quite different. Both seats  from a Buick or Olds 98 convertible should work as Bill said.

The rear seat base is relatively simple to make, I converted on from a much later coupe for my 41 convertible, framework has to be cut down and modified a little.

On a '47 convertible, is there supposed to be a chrome strip along the length of the door (interior) about 6 inches up from the bottom that separates a carpet strip on the bottom from the fabric or leather that makes up the top part of the door panel?  The door panels were gone when I got my project car and I've seen photos online both with and without the chrome strip.  Thanks for the help.

Jeff: Here are a couple of pictures showing the chrome strip and yes the strip is correct for the bottom of the door and quarter panel. What is not correct on my 47 door is the leather covering which I elected to use rather than the original Bedford Cord used by the factory in 46-47. It was not until 48 that a full leather interior was offered by Cadillac for the convertible.   Bill
