Nice old black and white film.  Not seen this before.  If you like cars, you'll love this.

The Tassie Devil(le)

Not sure, but I would kill for the '35 Ford 3 Window Coupe.

Any idea as to where this was filmed? Couldn't spot any street names. But I did notice the gas station with a "9" on the cost per gallon/litre sign.

I'll take the 33 Ford or the Packard next to it.

This is a great old film.   I'm not familiar with the 1930s cars, so I don't know if there are Cadillac's there.

My guess as to the the location is Wilshire Blvd., West Los Angeles.

There was a sign on the left that was for the Horton & Converse Drug stores, they are still only in Los Angeles.

And there is one on the corner of Wilshire & Federal today.

But where are the palm trees?

I did a Google street view and nothing looks the same.................again Wilshire is just a guess.........I need help from our Los Angles members.

Wilshire was my first guess also, not sure. I'm a native of Los Angeles (and still here  8)).

Just watched it again, at the very end you get a glimpse of a building to the right that appears to say Wilshire on it.

How about what appears to be a '32 Ford Sedan Delivery at the 51 second mark?

My thoughts was that the buildings in the background at the start is the Hollywood and Vine junction ?.  I think it's the Taft bldg?  Shame the film didn't start there cos I have the original Hollywood and Vine porcelain enamel signs hanging in my garage. They were taken down in 1942.  Would have loved to see them in a video.

Another native "Angeleno" spotted the Horton and Converse.  My guess is Wilshire Blvd near Western Ave.

Strange thing is the vehicle that the camera is on appears to be following a line on the highway while all the other cars are gosling about. I thought the camera was probably on a tram but it never stops.  Did trams have to follow a particular path back then, I was almost expecting to see power lines overhead or rails in the road had it been in San Fransisco.

These puzzles really get to me ....

At 58 seconds, there is a shop/store on the left by the name of "Wilshirmart". Wilshirmart was located on the southwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Doheny Drive and attached is a photo taken in 1935.

Counting the cross streets back, the video starts around 2 blocks west of S Beverly Drive.

If this is right, then the video "rumble seat cam" should veer right when it comes to North Robertson Blvd some 6 blocks further from the Wilshiremart.  It does (at 1:46)!

Great film! I wonder who owned the Rolls-Royce in the early seconds and what treasures were on the junk truck seen about 2/3 of the way through.
