Does anyone know who the jeweler was that supplied the "Certified Craftsman" pins to Cadillac????  Was it per chance Weyhing Bros. Mfg Co, Jewelers; 406 David Broderick Tower and 3040 Gratiot Ave., Detroit, MI?
Thanks

Well, you've had no responses yet but you've peaked my curiosity.

What, if I may ask was the purpose and application of a "Certified Craftsman" pin for a Cadillac?

Since jeweler was mentioned my only possible guess would be the clock????

Glen

The Certified Craftsman pins were given to recognize the good work of the dealer mechanics.  I assume the dealer would recommend the mechanic and Cadillac would then issue the pin.  Or something like that.

I have an original pin, in the box, from 1955.  On the back it says "Wehing Brothers
Detroit, Michigan".

I believe they were awarded for completing certain Cadillac training seminars along
with years of service.  I have a '55 Eldo, so anything from that year I collect.

On the other hand, my '49 Craftsman's pin doesn't say anything on the back.

Hey you guys!  Thanks for all the responses.  I bought a '48 Certified Craftsman pin and it came in a box from Weyhring Bros, so I just wanted to check if they were the orignal supplier.  After reading the responses, I looked on the back of my pin and saw what appears to be lettering on the screw on button that holds it to your lapel.  Unfortunately, age being what it is I had to get a magnifying glass to read it.  Sure enough, it said Weyhring Bros!  It just looked like a border design to me.  Thanks for the tip off.  Bottom line:  My pin came in the original box... not bad, eh?
Thanks
Whit

After reading Whit Otis' latest response on the lettering on his '48 pin, I looked a second time on the back of my '49 pin and, as he did, saw the same lettering on the screw-on button that I had missed before.  It says "Weyhring Bros Mfg. Co. Detroit Mich".
