I need to buy four rims and tires. I’d appreciate thoughts or experience about putting ’53 style wire wheels and radials on a my ’66 Eldorado.

1.   Are there any issues with fit in the wheel well or in performance  - like not remaining true?
2.   I’ve seen 48 and 54 spoke wheels advertised . Is there a significant strength or handling difference?
3.   I’d appreciate recommendations about good vendors.
4.   I’d appreciate warning about vendors to avoid in a PM
5.   Does the front end alignment have to be adjusted for radials?

I'm aware that they are not "authentic". This will be cruise/tour car, so I’m personalizing it to taste.

Thanks,

Ralph

I believe Kanter now sells the wire wheels you're looking for.

G'day Ralph,

With regard to question No. 5, you will need to have the wheels correctly aligned for Radials.   Radials require less Toe-in than Cross-plies.

Coker Tire has a division that carries wheels & centers and about as nice a wire wheel you will find. I think it is "Wheel Vintique" or something similar.
