All,
Getting ready to go through the leaf springs on my 37 LaSalle.  Upon disassembly, it is evident that the Liners between the leaves are something special.  They are about 1-7/8" wide but in the center is an additional strip about 9/16" wide that fits into the groove in the leaf immediately above.  The factory manual describes these as waxed liners.

My question is this; has anyone come up w/ a modern equivalent to these liners which were between every leaf of the 50 and 60 series cars?  On the originals, the center strip appears to be stitched to the main (wider) piece.  At either end, it appears to be stapled.

And if no one has figured out a practical replacement, has anyone figured out how to renew the wax?  The manual is no help saying simply that these springs "...should not be lubricated in service."

Hi Mark: Restoration Supply has various widths of spring liners. Please look at their web site below and download the catalog. Look on page 49 for the liners. Although this company is more for the early car, their site is a good bookmark as some of their products can be used for our Cadillacs.    Bill
