Although my first true love will always be my '62 Eldorado, I bought a '68 which is a close second.  The problem is that there seems to be fewer resources for the '68.  Everything is "except eldorado".  Where can I find a treasure trove of '68 stuff?  I need pictures!

Help!

Hi Gary!

Welcome to the world of 68 Eldorados!     There are several of us who own them who are regular posters here.     You are correct that many parts are 68 Eldo only.

    Here are some good links.

    The factory Data Book. http://modified.hostnexus.com/documents/1960s/1968/1968%20Data%20Book/
Print it out.  It is a great source of info.

I have a thread going on the Restoration of my 68.   http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?topic=116290.0

Hi Gary

Welcome!  The '68 is the best!  David is a great resource.  I'm newer to the game, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.  As a word of caution, even the most reputable vendors make mistakes in their catalogs.  If it appears too good to be true, it probably is.

Enjoy!

'68 Eldorado, cruise control, climate control, am/fm stereo, tilt/tele, 6-way bench, and vinyl roof.  Would love to add the twilight sentinel, guide-matic, power door locks, right hand mirror, headrests, and floor mats.  And how about leather buckets?  Oh, and pull the vinyl top.

Gary, what parts are you looking for?

Sometimes it is easier to find parts for my 38 model 75 then for the 68 ELDO.

Thanks Carl.   :)

You are right about the vendors - catalogs not always being correct.  I think all of us have run into that.

Also, keep in mind that some of the mechanical parts used on these front wheel drive Eldorados changed every year because they kept making improvements.   In some cases the newer part can be used.   Some parts are being reproduced for other car lines.  ie:   Headlamp switch and vacuum actuators are being made for the Camaros of that generation.

Ask alot of questions.  We may have been down that road before.

Oh, and Carl has a nice blog on his car too.  He is being too modest, so here is the link to his page.  ;)

You guys are the best.  I'm glad to know there is hope.

I finally registered the car this weekend.  It drives like a dream.  I can't wait to get started on getting everything to work.

Where to start is my first challenge.

Thanks again.

Gary,

As you found out, 1968s are a one off year for many parts, with the Eldorado even more so. But these represent a great year in Cadillac history, so I'm keeping mine as long as possible.
