Front Brake Rotor Removal for 68 Eldorado

I have a  vibration in my front rotors on my 68 Eldorado.  Are they hard to remove?  I want to replace them with new ones.  Thanks.

If they are not worn too thin find a shop with an on car resurfacing machine.

Dave,  I did find a shop that has that machine but they said that they didn't think they had the right bracket for that old of a car.  Thanks.

Pull a wheel and give a look see, this requires removing all the brake components to get it off.

I am trying to remember what it takes to do that.  Remove two bolts and the caliper comes off.  Hang the caliper from something convenient so as to not damage the brake hose. Then remove the axle nut, separate the tie rod end, upper and lower ball joint and now you have the knuckle, hub and rotor in hand. 

Now you have to press the hub out of the bearing in the knuckle.  Do not be tempted to remove the retainer first.  It does not release the bearing and makes it more difficult to separate them.   

Once the hub is off, then match mark the position of the rotor on the hub and then remove the four bolts that hold the rotor on the hub. 

As this was manufactured in the early days of disc brakes for passenger cars they were not made easy to work on and I think the rotor and hub were meant to remain with each other forever.  The reason for match marking is so you put it back together the same way it came apart.  There maybe centering and balance issues involved. 

If you can find a new one I would be surprised.

My shop resurfaced them on the car.  They did find new ones but said the old ones were still thicker after resurfacing, so they returned the new ones.
