Mr cadillac

Hello. I am looking for a litter receptacle for the passenger side kick plate for my 1971 Cadillac Eldorado. Looking for leads. Thanks to those who responded to my previous posts. A huge Thank You to Tim for having just what I needed. Everyone here is a huge fountain of knowledge/help.Norman

I don't believe the built-in litter container was available until the 1973 model - possibly later.

If I recall correctly it latches onto a peg and there is a 'keyhole' slot in the container.  IF the peg is there then it had one?

As always the memory is not what it used to be and I could be thinking of something other than a early 70's Eldo.

My '72 has the Litter container.   Not sure which year they started to become standard.

My '71 Eldorado Convertible was built in May 1971 and it does not have a "litter container" as later included as standard equipment. I believe it was first made standard mid-way through the 1972 model year production.

My '72 was built in October 1971, so I would say that they began at the commencement of the 1972 model year.

So I learned something new today.  My '71 was built in March and didn't have it.  It sounds like 1972 it is!
