What is this glass Cadillac??

Anyone ever see anything like this? Its a frosted glass early 50s Cadillac - maybe 8-10 inches long. It has a square recess in place of an interior - looks like it was designed to hold something. Maybe a desk accessory of some sort.

My guess would be that it's an ash tray.

I have something similiar, but painted instead of clear.  I figured it was a desk caddy,( no pun intended. ) for memo pads or paperclips.

Can't tell if it would fit, but would make a good biz card holder. Would like to have one for that.

I had several colored ones.  Got them from the florist who used them as little planters.  I had red and white ones.
