The 1940 LaSalle "Operating Hints" manual states "the dials of all instruments are glow-lighted, while momentary lighting of the ignition switch is provided by the lock lamp". Can someone explain what this actually means and how it is supposed to work?
Thanks in advance.

The "Lock Lamp"would have to refer to the light that illuminates the keyhole on the ignition switch. There was (and should be) a little sheet metal housing that mounts to the dash with the switch, A light #51, I suppose snaps into a hole in this little housing, and it illuminates the lock switch for ignition..
