Rear glass on '47 ELDO vonvt.

Re: a recent post on glass breaking on '71-76 convt.  There are two fairly large springs one on each side to pull the window back into the space in the trunk.  Mine are in place and look like new.

Can we count on those springs to get the window out of the way of the roof and metal arms as they fold down into the space behind the rear seat??
I try to see that the fabric top are folded to be as compact as possible to fit in the space.
My top when down all the way seems to be too high for a solid or canvas boot to be used there.
The poster warned not to force the top down as the machinery can be easily bent or broken. This is my first convt. and my last one.
