When I start my car, the vacuum that is fed into my brake booster produces a sound in the booster that would give the appearance that the booster is hollow inside. However, when I apply the brakes, the sound goes away. Can anyone tell me if this is a normal operating characteristic for the booster? It is a rebuilt original 1962-63 booster.

Thanks in advance for the due diligence.

The noise goes away, when you step on the brakes. Does it come back when yu let off the brake pedal?    There should be no noises.

Russ,

I'll have to get back to you after I put the car back together. I can't remember if the hollow sound continues.
