Someone on the forum here suggested the Diamondback 700R15s to me for my '54 Fleetwood.  I'm glad I took his advice, they are beautiful radial WW tires that look like bias.

Good posting Jeff and a great tire produced by Diamond Back. Once you drive a radial you will never go back to a bias tire.   Bill

Is there a noise difference between the two when driving a convertible on the highway?
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike: No difference to me in noise with top up or down. Probably I am the last person to ask as my wife says I can`t hear at times. I call that selective hearing.    Bill

Wait! Diamond Back uses blackwalls from another manufactuer, then vulcanizes a white wall onto that tire? Does that sound like a "gluing" of a  portawall. I presume even with radial flexing, the wall never peels off?

I get that "selective hearing" from my wife also! Top up or top down.

No, it never "peels off".
I have Diamondback WWs on my '35 Cadillac resto-mod.  I requested 235/70-16 Michelins and that was no problem.  I love the tires and am completely happy with the 7/8" white walls they put on them, I told them the WW width I wanted.  The tires now have approximately 16,000 miles --- mostly interstate miles at 70 to 75 MPH including 3 trips from Florida to New York State and to the 2013 GN in Quincy.

Edit note:  I originally said 275/70-16, should have said 235/70-16.  My apologies if it made a difference.

Very impressive! So the cost of a Diamondback tire will vary according to the brand of tire that you choose?

35-709

It did in the case of the Michelins, could have had Goodrich or a couple of other brands that would have been a little less and all about the same price but I wanted Michelins.

35-709, I took a few pics of your car in Quincy. Very nice.
We rode up in the 52 from SC.

Now I saw some nice WW tires on a Cadillac at the show without any name or writing on the tire.
Back in the day was there brand names on tires or any writing?

Mike,  The Diamondback process starts out by shaving away the sidewall and then vulcanising the whitewall on to hte side of the tire which removes the brand name. Guarantees are througn Diamondback. An example is that my 1942 Cadillac needed 16 inch tires and Diamondback used Cooper truck tires as cores.

I don't suppose they do both sides of the tyre with the whitewall?  If not, then the original brand and manufacturing information will still be there.

That is correct, all of the pertinent and usual information is on the back side of the tire.

Thank you very much, Joe.  As you said I brought 2 cars to the show, the '35 and the '73 Caribou (red pickup).  Drove them both up from Florida, if they had counted two trips in two separate cars I might have won the long distance award!  ;D
Drove the Caribou up first and left it at a friend's storage facility in New York State, then flew home and brought my wife up in the '35.  She drove the '35 from NYS to Boston and I drove the Caribou.  Please allow me to brag here and say that the Caribou won 1st in Class in Primary Class-25.
