I would like to order a rebuild kit for this Carter carb but not sure what model it is?? Also what is the part that I have a red pointer, pointing to?? It is loose and seems like it threads into the top of the carb, the choke has been wired so it is inoperable by the previuos owner but the car runs fine. Thanks for any help, Martin Its on a 1938 Cadillac 60S.

Kits are usually ordered by year and model of car, I think your car should have a Stromburg so in your case you would have to find the model number and see if the carb specialists can help with a kit. The model number is usually on the bottom flange, you'll probably have to remove it to clean that area.
The object your pointing at looks like Carters version of a float chamber breather. On the Cadillac Stromburgs this consists of an overflow tube running to the rear of the engine to prevent the center of the engine flooding in fuel should the float needle stick.

Looks like a carter WCD Takes Daytona Kit 205. Looks for the carb number on the base-- Here are photos of a couple of my Stromberg carbs. Stromberg numbers of mine can be seen as AAV 23 and AAV 26 NOT the same kit!
