Working on a climate control restore for 1976 Eldorado convertible and customer asked me to fix the electric interlock that allows front seats to tilt forward for entrance into the back seat.  there is no lever or button like on my 1970, you are supposed to just push the seat forward, but it will not yield.

Thought this was a pendulum device, but maybe not?  Customer says it is an electric interlock and he is a smart guy.  The wiring diagram in shop manual does not show this, or at least I could not find it.  Seems like the seat would be available for release when door is open and not when door is closed.  Does anyone know anything about this or where the wiring diagram is for it?

Front seats will not allow entry into back seat, so it is a major pain.

Thanks,

There is a solenoid in the seat back.   I believe it was triggered from a second door jam switch.

That's correct and there IS a seat release on the back of each side of the front seat.

Yes, does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram on this?

There is an manual latch and an electric solenoid in seat back triggered by top door jam switch with black button.

Page 10-69 of the 1976 Fisher Body service manual has all that info, Scot.

Jack,

Thanks I ordered that manual hoping the info would be there.  Now I know it will be and you have saved me some time by identifying the page- thanks!

Hopefully I can get it working OK, the passenger side engages and all but needs adjustment.  The driver side is not working, either bad switch, no power to switch or bad solenoid.

Enjoy the fall,

Hopefully the manual will help you. It seems like a pretty basic test procedure outlined in there, including a circuit diagram. Good luck!

Brian and I had a 77 Eldo where the plastic connector under the drivers seat wasn't connected.
Once connected the solenoid started clicking and the seat release worked perfectly.
