Maybe you will find the owner and find out he really wanted a red hard top?

hehe,

being the small country this is, the owner actually found me, i was at a red light behind a red 62 impala convertible and the owner jumped out and told me that he had bin thinking about buying my car, but bought this one in the states and imported it.

the weather here to summer has bin horrible, endless rain and wind, so you do not miss the chance to take the caddy for a spin when the weather takes a brake,
and when i was doing so, i saw this sitting behind a fence

looks like a 75-78, in white, it had dark red interior, i noticed that the steering wheel was undamaged, the body is rusted beyond repair i would think, the owner came out and talked to me, he said the car has bin restored twice over the years but now it needs a new body, he plans to restore it, the firewall was almost gone completely

being so rusty, i guess this car came here new, the climate here is hardcore at least, and those that where driven as daily drivers all year around in the salt most ended up like this,

spotted this one in a driveway, i do actually know what car this is, its a 75, and in my best of knowledge quite a nice car

and then the rain came back,

best regards,
ivar

The rusted one I would guess to be a 77 or 78 based on the AC assuming its original.    The original 77-78 steering wheel was a horizontal bar.   The 74-76 was a 3 spoke similar to the 71-73 except it had a round raised center part.

How many people live in the area you are in?

Is it common over there to 'restore' a car that is that far gone?   Over here they are still fairly common cars so if you just take some time you can usually find one in the condition you want.

What were the common cars there in the 70's and 80's?
