I recently purchased a 1940 LaSalle 5029 which is a 4 door convertible. It is body 22, VIN 2321242 and it was shipped from Detroit October 13th 1939 and went to Pittsburgh Pa for the big auto show there. The original color was Oxblood Maroon which is it's approximate color now. It was owned by Steven Allen Mattson and Deborah Mattson from 11/01/2004 until 6/14/2007. It was registered in Minnesota during those years and they resided in Andover Mn. I believe it then went to Kansas as it has Kansas collector plates on it now, but I purchased it in Arizona from a club member who knew little more than the above about this car.

It had upholstery 25 (I think) -2 color combination 10, and group B (It looks like a B to me) options for $15.75. White wall Firestones for $15 and base price of $1245.60 total with advertising and shipping out the door from Detroit for$1348.85.  I paid a little more than that for it (Actually  a lot more but don't tell my old lady) and I am really liking this car. It is currently in getting a brake job and hoses and fan belt. I am including a picture to jog someones memory but the flash makes it look more red than the maroon that it actually is.

Any information about this car will be appreciated. Please post information here or send to garygriffin@Q.com

Thank You

My interest is to fill in the gaps, where has this car been and when was it there?  An interesting puzzle. I am also a 1940 model and a
human and have searched for years for a "Birth Year Car" with a little pzazz.  To me this car has that and is a great addition to my garage. This is  a recent purchase but my intent is to let my kids worry about what to do with it at some future date. I will be enjoying it until then

I am disappointed that no one seems to know anything about this car.

There's a great many people in the CLSC who do not frequent this forum Gary and even more Cadillac owners who do not belong to the CLSC. I wish you luck as I thought it would have been a well known car.
