Can anyone let me know what type face GM used for their trademark initials in 1941? I am going to try to replicate a stencil for the water hoses on the 346 engines.

If you happen to have a photo of what the typeface is, and one can't be found that matches it closely, I can make a font file for you from it. I've received a pile of great help here and am happy to use my knowledge to return the favor.

I've seen a picture within the last week, and can't remember where. And naturally, I forgot to save it.

Does anyone have  picture of an original radiator hose so I can make a stencil for  2942, 1940, 1939 era ?

Steve Passmore

Don't suppose this will help you will it?  Its on a 1938 crankshaft.

Steve Cooley has done this already and has stencils for sale. There is also a recommended spray paint which escapes my memory right now. I did my hoses this way and they do look great!

Could you send me Steve's contact information ?  I need to do a set for a 1939 LaSalle being done as a high point car.

Also, braided radiator hose or non braided ?

Wire clamps or non-wire on the heater hoses ?

Does someone have a set of McVey Fan belts without the cogs on a shelf ?

Here is a photo of an unrestored car - 1941 Cadillac 62 Series Radiator Hose Script (which should be the same as a 1939 LaSalle) :

I did have a stencil made and then sold the car. (I still cringe whenever Jeff talks about "his" 1941.) ((And he did it again just this week on the Forum. Sob!))

Sorry, Barry!

It's funny, because when CLC'ers come over to see the '41, I always refer to it as "Barry's car".

Want to sell me a copy of that stencil?

Jeff, thanks for the kind thoughts. For that, I will dig the stencil out of the drawer in a minute and send it on. I am hoping to see her next year at the GN. BW

Hose is 'hand wrapped' style in black.  I bought hose from Restoration Supply (restorationstuff.com)

Heater hose clamps are more of a band style, not wire as for radiator clamps.
