37 65 engine number/chassis number

Hi , is there anyone out there in cad land who can tell me what the correct sequence/ correlation for the engine number to chassis number,I'm trying to get it exactly right so i can obtain an original build sheet for my car, cheers and many thanx to anyone who can help. Cel. clc#28175

The engine number sequence is 7030001 to 7032401 and the frame number should match. This info came from the Master Parts Book and can also be found Membership Directory.    Harry

thanks for the help Harry, your info is also what i read in the authenticity manuel, the problem i have is that the only number i have on the chassis , which is located on the top of the left hand rail , just back from the engine mount , reads 7BL331,unless there is a number stamped elsewhere that i don't know about, i can't make sense of this against the series of engine numbers . cheers Cel Pezzimenti. clc#28175

Unless any of those digits tie into your VIN I don't know. You've got me curious now I will have see if I can find the frame number on my '37. I'll keep you posted.     Harry

Cel, I checked my frame number and it is 3B808. The 808 is the last three digits of my VIN. Not sure what the prefix means other than maybe location built or possibly a date code.    Harry

This mis match of chassis to engine numbers is correct for 37, but was changed to matching numbers by 38,  at least true on the smaller series.

On my 1938 - 6519F the frame and engine number are the same.

Hi John, when you say the numbers match,do you mean that the frame number forms part of the engine number or that your engine number appears exactly as the frame,I:E if the engine number is 8270001 and up, what part of the sequence does the frame number and lettering come into ?Cel.

The numbers are exactly the same on the frame and the engine. On the 65 Series they start with 727 and are followed by 4 numbers. I am not comfortable with sharing my serial numbers.

Guys,
The subject is a 1937 car. The 1938 & up VINS DO match.
The 37 and previous VINS do NOT match, but they can be correlated.  Cel, this subject has been discussed in GREAT  detail in the past. I suggest doing a search. If you'll post your frame and engine #'s, we can tell you the info you need.
Also, Steve, you're supposed to be on vacation! LOL! Maybe you can give him a link to the discussion on Godi's car.
