The Twilight Sentinel function is not working correctly on a 2001 Eldorado.

At nighttime, the slightest amount of light (such as from a street lamp and such) will both prevent the interior courtesy lamps from functioning as well as the headlamps. Only when the car is in complete darkness will the system switch on both lighting systems.

Is there any sort of adjustment that can be made through the car's on-board diagnostic & control settings through the instrument panel or otherwise? I hope it does not necessitate replacement of the Twilight Sentinel amplifier.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

**Incidentally I also have a '95 Sedan deVille that also has a similar malfunction except it's just the opposite: The headlamps & courtesy lamps (when a door is opened) remain on at all times - except under the very brightest of lighting conditions. Curiously, the headlights only turn off during a bright overcast day - while remaining lit during most any sunny day. Removing the photocell shield eliminates the problem.

I have the opposite problem. My headlights on my 99 Eldo do not come on until late dusk.
I asked a Cadillac tech about an adjustment to make them come on sooner and he said there is none.
The grill on the top of the dash pops out carefully. Make sure the top of the sensor is clean and has nothing on it.  Worth a try.

Thanks Brian.

Perhaps I'll try putting a little black tape over part of the lens.
