Hey guys! I am a new owner of a 69 cadillac. I'm 28 and have wanted one for at least the last 10 years. Came across a great deal and had to buy it!! Just makes me smile :) as for my question, concerning the A.I.R. Pump... #1 can I bypass it? I cannot seem to find the diverter valve, silencer, or diverter valve hose. The tube btw valve covers has been capped but the pump is still working and sounds like an exhaust leak. What are my options for fixing this? I did find a diverter valve that was old new and a hefty price of 700 bucks!! So glad to be a part of this site! Happy to learn from you cadillac lovers!

Kind of depends on where you are and how stringent their emission's controls inspections (if there are any) are.

It is relatively easy to remove the AIR Pump and move the Alternator rearwards to use the AIR pumps' belt line to drive it, but as Greg asks, are you allowed to do it?

I have done this modification many times, and have even set up a jig to weld up the modified bracket to attach the Alternator.

I'm in Texas with antique plates... No emissions testing at all on antique cars. Do you have some pictures of the modified bracket? That dang thing is so noisy! Also, any idea what I can do with the tube btw valve covers? One side has a hole. It's already been capped where diverter valve hose plugs in.  And what size is the new belt for crank/water pump/alternator? Thanks for the help guys!

First thing you might do is get a set of "non air pump 472 (68-70) pulleys. That would be the crank and water pump pulleys.  That is the easiest way to start. You will still have the 2 AC/PS belts and a single belt for the alternator/water pump.  As far as everything else, just remove and/or cap. Plug the hoses in the cylinder heads with the correct size expansion plugs, remove the pump and it's discharge hoses, and plug the port on the carburetor leading to the diverter valve.
Set the timing to the "non-AIR" numbers, and you should be okay.
