I am looking at two separate distributors:

Distributor #1 has ID # 1110807 6L 8 (and looks like vacuum advance has been removed)

Distributor #2 has ID # 1110807 01 9 (has a vacuum advance and it's ID# is 1116030).

I have a 1940 LaSalle and would like to procure another distributor for rebuilding and need to verify which or if both are correct for my vehicle.
I am aware the 1937-39 had no vacuum advance and the 1949-55 have a different gear an distributor plate. I need the one for my 1940, can anyone verify these distributors???

Hello, I looked in the Cadillac Master Parts book 1935-1949.
Distributor with part # 1110807 is for 1940 50,52,60s,62,72,75,  1941-1948
Spark advance with part # 1116030 is for the same.
There was a note: "On 1940 replace vacuum control coupling 1883227  with 1865656. "

All that being said, the number on the distributor on my 1940 Lasalle is 1110806  9L6  and the spark advance has 1116020.  My guess is one was the original part number the car came with from the factory and the other is the correct replacement available at the Cadillac parts counter. The part numbers that were on my distributor and spark advance were not in the parts book.

Tom is correct. I looked it up in a 1942 master parts book. In that book there is a 1940 only (all series ) distributor 1110806  with vacuum advance 1116020. So it is up to you how correct a fit you need.Warren
