In reference to my previous post, does anybody know if TV rods are different lengths for '49/2bbl setup vs. '53/4bbl setup?

A while back, I did change out a '49 for '53 Hydtramatic. Fortunatly, I had both TV rods. They were different lengths, and the "S" bend wasn't quite the same. I don't remember which was longer overall. I chose to use the '53 TV rod to mate up to the (1950) 2 barrel carb, because it was a closer fit; needed less adjustment. It was  able to be adjusted nicely and works well. Keep in mind that the TV lever (on transmission side)  "starting point" position is different year to year. This lever is bent for adjusting. Consult shop manual or guage instructions. At the very least, try to use the '53 lever on the '53 trans, '49 lever on the '49 trans etc. if for no other reason than somebody else has spent a lot of time on the frustrating trial and error in getting it close. A lot of weird geometry takes place, and one adjustment can create the need for two more.  On the bright side, if it worked before, you should be able to get it back with patience.   Good luck!
