Thanks Harry, I will reconsider my churlish ways thanks to your encouragement. . . hehe. Great if your 41 was owned by Bette Grable. I will see what we can find.

G'day Yann, ol' mate. Hope you are well. Pic of V16 is supposedly showing child actor Sabu. Car must be later than 34 or it's had biplane bumpers replaced.     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabu_Dastagir I have found a great new tool on Google for photos right click on mouse and use "Search Google for photo" option. Doesn't tell you much more about the pic but you can probably make inferences from his bio.

Dave, . . I looked again at the June Wilkinson pic and you know what bedamned. It isn't really offensive at all ( if it is turn you head sideways and look away) and it damn well IS Cadillac related. Anyone who understands that "Form follows function" will also understand that "Fashion follows form, follows function." That June's quirky attire is directly related to the period 1958, when this pic was taken, is patently obvious. It is "fashion of the times". No different to all the many products that associated themselves via the Cadillac crest or V . So I make no apologies this time for reposting the pic.

Might be form and function, but not Cadillac or LaSalle related, and therefore the picture was again removed.  Bruce Reynolds, Administrator.

Bruce , Happy New Year Mate !!!!. Are we really gonna end up having a fight about this??? Back off , put the photo back up and let the individuals who are interested in following this thread decide if they are mature enough or not to look at it. Maybe if there are any other individuals who see the image inappropriate, they surely have the right to voice their concerns via the freedom of this forum. Take away that freedom and I for one will go to another forum to enjoy and share these pics.

Anyone know where Ike is visiting in this pic?  I know the King of Malaysia had a 57 Biarritzs and also the Consul General had a black one. It is here in OZ now painted silver. I remember being accosted  by some Malaysian gentlemen in Sydney in my black Biarritz twenty years ago. They told me they knew where the King's Biarritz was in Kuala Lumpa being used as a chook shed  by an Indian man.

Hello Quentin.  For what it's worth I agree.

Thanks for posting the vintage photos.

Quote from: harry s on December 30, 2013, 08:25:52 PM. The car was delivered through Don Lee in Hollywood and the story has been told from an owner in 1956. If the car was owned by her, great, if not it's still a cool car.     Harry

Snap Harry, mine 37 too was delivered to Don Lees in Hollywood. I would dearly love to know who the first owner was but alas with your country's registration system I think thats a pipe dream.  Perhaps they were bought by the same family? ;D

Quentin, thanks for the link and the posted pictures. Please, don't be discouraged.

Yann, that picture was done in 1937 in London as a promotional for the film "Elephant Boy" with the main star Sabu inside the pedal car. The one in the background was Marlene Dietrich's car indeed.
As soon as I saw that photo I recognized Sabu as he was a movie idol of my childhood with movies  such as..."The Thief of Bagdad", "Jungle Book", "Arabian Nights" and others

Gday folks. Thanks for the moral support. (Or perhaps it is immoral support? )
Sometimes you gotta take it on the chin, get back up and stick out your chest. Just not quite as far as June Wilkinson's chest apparently haha. I have a heap more pics that I will keep feeding thru. That is when the kids will let me have some quality "dad time" on the computer. Happy New Year guys.

Last night, I watched a Bob Cummings/Deanna Durbin movie "It started with Eve," and they may have borrowed that car for the movie. At least it was a 1941 67. The one I wanted to see more of was the car used for the Bishop. It only was on screen through some doors for about ten seconds but it both looked interesting and one I couldn't identify that quickly. Yann, here is another '41 to add to your list on the data base.

Quentin, thanks for the great pictures. Are the first two shots of a presidential limo? I have never seen a bubble top limo like that before. Did anyone else notice the Buick Cabalaro wagon in the background with the camera man?

Thanks for the confirmation. Somewhere in my archives is a newsreel clip from 1935 (?) that shows Marlene's car when it was in England and she was being entertained by actor David Niven. If anyone finds that clip, do let me know.

BTW, Marlene's town car car is a 1934 model (one of 4 built), featuring the updated, single-bar bumpers used from 1935 to 1937.

The 1959 bubble-top limousine was built for the royal (British) visit to Canada that year. It has survived and is currently undergoing a full restoration at a location I am not at liberty to disclose.

The 1957 bubble-top Seville was also made for a similar royal visit to Canada (photos of finished car attached).  It is not known to have survived ... but keep looking!

Couple of Burton and his '56. Once, while filming a movie, Burton requested a Cadillac for their transportation. A Not Happy Elizabeth shot back at him with, " A CADILLAC ?? Every bar tender in New Jersey drives a Cadillac ! " Gotta love her !!!
