In the Jan. 2014 issue of the Self-Starter in the article "Yes! CLCMRC Museum on its Way" there are two photos that show an unusual Cadillac. It is parked on a trailer. It appears to be a  1938  75 or 90 Series formal sedan  with a '38 series 60 grille mated to hood side grilles that appear to be very similar to those of a '38 LaSalle slightly modified near the end. The bumpers and wheel covers appear to be '38.

What is the story on this car and how could the Self-Starter show it without some identification ?

On behalf of Steve and Tim, they do make every effort to identify cars correctly. Steve called me last night about one of Ron's cars that he was not sure of the correct year from the mimeo days. The one in the January issue was probably an oversight due to deadlines.

As to the car itself, I haven't gotten my issue yet so I haven't seen it. There are weird cars out there. One I saw was a 1937 60 coupe with a complete 1938 dash with column shift. That's been at least sixty years ago and no one ever had any comments when I mentioned it in the S/S. (Except for someone wanting to buy the dash.)

So, Ter', my mystery car is of longer duration than yours. Hah!

Barry:

I didn't get that Self-Starter sixty years ago since the CLC wasn't started yet, but your mystery car sounds like a wrecked '38 60 Series coupe. Since the local junkyard couldn't find a '38  60 front end and since the bodies are the same for both years, they installed the front clip from a '37 series 60 coupe.

That doesn't sound too mysterious !

The mystery car is a custom '38-7559 built for Wm. Fisher.
