John,
The transmission rear seal is the same for manual and Hydra-Matic 1941-53 cars. Part numbers are Cadillac 8617869, Chicago Rawhide #16744, Victor#63314, Lempco#33106 or 33106H. he seal is 2.508"OD, 1.64" diameter inside of seal lip. Many parts stores can interchange those to the equivalent in other brands of seals.

Removal is not difficult with a slide hammer tool to yank it out, otherwise a real pain to pry out, because the frame X member is in the way.

On my '49 the only way I could get it out was to remove the rear housing of the transmission, put the housing in a vice and pound the seal the from the front of the housing with a drift and hammer.  For some reason, as Bob said, this seal is very difficult to remove.
