Nothing wrong with adding a bit of oil. I dont get the aversion to checking and adding oil. You add gasoline, why not oil? Adding some new oil replenishes all the supplements in the oil. When you fill up the car, check the oil.

That is the way it used to be done back in the day when they had gas station attendants.

I am not a new car buyer. I never buy new vehicles except for some I have leased for my business over the years. A gently used car in the 20-30,000 mile range is always a good deal.
As a Cadillac enthusiast and collector it sickens me to read and have been a victim of GM's failures with engine design on their best cars.

They certainly should be able to build engines that do not leak and do not burn oil at this point in time.

I have a 175,000 mile Dodge Caravan that does not need oil in between 3000 mile oil changes.

I have had two 90's Northstar Cadillacs and one leaked oil like a sieve and the other blew a head gasket.  That's a 100 percent failure rate in my family. As previously posted, I still have the 99 Eldo that I sunk a great deal of money into.  It's still not trouble free.

My 98,000 mile well maintained 76 Eldo doesn't leak or use any oil and runs great and idles silently.

They used to know how to build bulletproof engines.  What happened?

Well in the end I chickened out on the 2000 Seville with 47K; someone got it for $4,300 but I was shocked to see Kelly Blue Book value of only $2,300 for the highest level of condition and low mileage.  That's some kind of depreciation!  I read a lot of owner reviews of this car and a majority pointed to leaks, head gaskets, and overall very high maintenance expenses.  I'll stick with my 2000 Chrysler LHS I bought a few years ago with 55K from a Texas dealer.  Hardly a penny spent and now at 107,000.

I have a 1994 Concours and a 2009 DTS.  I have never added any oil to either car between changes.   I recently drove the DTS from Oklahoma to California and never put any oil in it while on the trip. I put over 4,000 miles on it.  Unfortunately as far as I an concerned Cadillac does not have a car I would currently buy.  The dealer let us have an XTS overnight.  That thing reminded me of a Ford Taurus.  I think that is the most awkward looking Cadillac that has ever been built.  The next Cadillac I want is a 67- 70 de Ville, Fleetwood, or Eldorado.  I also have an 89 de Ville and have never added any oil to it, but I has the 4.5

I wouldn't place too much stock in KBB pricing, which IMO - with a quarter century's worth of experience as a professional automobile dealer - isn't worth the paper it's written on, nor the K-bytes needed to pollute cyberspace with its insipid misinformation.

I would gladly buy for inventory - all the mint condition 47,000 mile 2000 Sevilles I could lay my hands on for $2,300 per!

What fantasy.

Absurd.

EDIT: BTW: Last month, I retailed a 2001 Eldorado Sport Coupe with 47,000 miles for ... $9,500. And I had two parties fighting over it.

From personal experience.....adding Marvel Mystery Oil would probably stop a lot of the oil burning and leaking problems on these motors.

MMO is basically a solvent, it will leak and burn just like motor oil.  It doesn't fix leaking seals, might be of some help if carboned piston rings are a problem.  These engines have a history of oil burning.

I love my eldo, but right now I have to hunt down and fix a small coolant leak, and I am getting low freon warning.  ALL coolant hoses were replaced when the head gaskets were replaced, the radiator and surge tank are new, and my compressor is 1 year old and worked perfectly all summer.

Neverending...

This is exactly why I drive a Lincoln Town Car as my daily driver. 125,000mi and just recently had to do ball joints and tie rods - the original factory components were replaced. Uses no oil, no coolant.  Probably good for another 100,000 and I don't drive it lightly.

Have a 2001 Eldorado ETC bought it in 2002 for about half the MSRP new. Triple Black. Like a hole cut in the night. One of the best cars I have ever owned. Powerful acceleration. Exceptional handling. 325 dark brown horses. 3500 pounds. Quart of oil every thousand miles. Love the styling. Fits me like a glove. Bulletproof reliable.

Wouldn't trade it for anything.
