Hi all
I just pulled the engine and transmission from my '54 60 Special  to detail the engine and engine bay.  Any recommendations on where I can bring my transmission for service?  There's nothing wrong with it but as long as I have the engine and tranny out I think it makes sense to have it serviced.  I live in southern CT, so within a couple hours driving distance would work for me.
Thx, Bob

I got the transmission back today.  Lou Russo in Port Chester, NY did the work for me.  Now I get to paint it and I'm really looking forward to getting to the re-assemble stage.  He had a couple other transmissions going when I got mine, and he really seems to know his stuff, which is good because I know nothing about transmissions lol.  The Fatsco kit was $422 and he charged a very reasonable $350 for labor for the overhaul. He showed me all my old parts.  One of the seals was completely solid like glass and had split right through.  Good thing I went ahead and got this done while the transmission was out.

Lou told me it was ok to post his phone number here in case anyone else in the area needs work done.  914-557-1471.  I have pics of everyone who has helped me on this car so far.

Very reasonable for a complete bench overhaul, make sure you get the tv rod adjustment right when re-installing.

And flush the transmission cooler lines. Don't want that stuff that's lingering in the lines to get in a fresh rebuild.

No cooler lines in my '54.  '55 is the first year with them.
