I just bought an 85 Eldo Biarritz with the digital dash.
The car for me is 2 days old when I bought it the digital fuel and miles remaining on the dash worked.
I filled the car up and it went out for ten minutes and came back on came back on.
now it is stuck at dash dash on the left  and 0 on the right.
The spedo works and everything else works.
Is it the sending unit or a possibility of some sort of computer box
Any help greatly appreciated

I have an 85 with a digital dash.  I have not used it as a daily driver for many years, but I do remember that when I used to fill it all the way to the top I would get the same display that you are describing.

You know it is full, so drive it around a bit.  Soon it will indicate "F", then go to "18" and the countdown will begin.

Wait and see, but just in case it is faulty, zero out your trip odometer and watch your miles driven.  If it doesn't start to display properly after about 25-30 miles, you may need to look deeper.

Let us know what happens.

thanks for now it is my daily driver
I am the type of person that i will go crazy to try to fix it
i was thinking that when it goes below f it will work again as i have only had the car a few days
This would lead me to believe that it is the sender
i have found a few rebuild sites for the sender as the digital dash sender is not available

Is it possible that "-O" means Overfull?  Brian's comment made me think that...

In the old days a bad ground on the tank, or a break in the wire from sender to dash, would cause the gauge to shoot up to above full.  And that could be an intermittent problem.  Perhaps filling the tank puts more weight in it and makes it sag a little causing a ground connection made by the tank touching the body to open up.  I'd test for ground at the tank first.  That's an easy problem to fix.

How many miles have you driven?

I don't think it's broken.

See photos below.

I took my 85 Eldo with digital dash out and filled it up tonight and got the same display you described.

Drive it a little and it will go to 18.

Drove a little and now it goes to f on the left and 366 on the right
Who knows what causes this
I was looking on the web and it is difficult to find someone who solved this problem
I am thinking of buying a sender from a rebuild company as I have found them
not a bad place to start and 150 for the sender plus the shop labor to install as I have no lift
The shop said you can check for proper signal when the sender is out
love to find someone who has solved this problem

Brian when it starts to show f or 18,17,16 ect is it really reading the gas in the tank
when I bought the car it was at 8 and the right was like 165
hope that means it starts working

My 81 Biarritz also does this when the tank is full. Eventually it goes to F and then starts counting down.

The shop manual notes "Fuel Display Shows "--" Part of the Time: 1. Wrong tank unit installed. 2. Intermittent open wiring harness."

My guess is that when completely full the rheostat or what ever it is that is attached to the float contacts a dead spot and creates an "open"

It's just a quirk of the car. My other one did it too. You can put in a new sender but its a waste of money. You know when it's very full so just live with it.

Never bothered me.
